Often we are dispatched to an address for a fire or a medical call and we drive past the location because we cannot read the numbers on a mailbox, or the numbers are only on one side. This wastes time when minutes could mean the difference between life and death, between a minor fire and losing a whole house.
Our Fire Department has available, for $20.00, a green aluminum sign with reflective numbers on it. I’m sure you’ve seen them and how effective they are.
We recommend putting the sign in your front yard. (Putting them on the mailbox across the street helps, but we still have to guess which house we are responding to.)
